Bribery Scandal: FIFA Suspends Executive Members Jack Warner And Bin Hammam

FIFA ethics committee today decided that two of the soccer world body executive committee members Jack Warner and Mohamed bin Hammam, both have cases to answer over corruption allegations.

However, the committee said president Sepp Blatter  who was also facing an ethics committee over corruption allegations will not be barred from running for elections as the allegations against him were not proven.

Mr. Warner and Hammam are temporarily suspended from participating in the soccer body's activities until the committee concludes it findings.

 Mohamed bin Hammam, a Qatari,  was Mr. Blatter main rival for football's top job of the upcoming elections slated for June 1 2011.

The secretary general of FIFA told a press conference in Zurich today FIFA will not postpone the date of elections.
