Boko Haram Is The Real Government In Nigeria

June 30, 2011

North western Nigeria has been conquered and is being colonized by the Boko Haram. That’s right, they are the new government. And with time they may take over the entire northern part of the country Abuja inclusive. The Jonathan government has been helpless against this Boko Haram made up of Almajiris.

North western Nigeria has been conquered and is being colonized by the Boko Haram. That’s right, they are the new government. And with time they may take over the entire northern part of the country Abuja inclusive. The Jonathan government has been helpless against this Boko Haram made up of Almajiris.

Each time an attack is carried out by the Boko Haram our so called government comes out to condemn, investigate and promise to apprehend the perpetrators time after time. The president has come out to tell us that the government would foot the medical bill for the survivors of the attack. That is all well and good. But, what about the dead? Is the government going to foot the bill for their funerals and burial ceremonies? Is the government going to foot the bill for the purchase of caskets to bury what is remaining of them?

Ever since the resurgence of the Boko Haram, after  their leader Mohammed Yusuf  was killed in July of 2009, there have been many attacks carried out by the group ranging from bomb attacks, drive by shootings, jailbreaks etc.

But what is even more baffling is that the group has not limited its attacks to civilians mostly but has specifically and methodically targeted government security agencies especially the police and the army. There have been cases of bomb blasts in police stations and army barracks and incidences of drive by shootings in which police men and soldiers have been killed. And of course the recent attack on the headquarters of the Nigerian police in Abuja. I don’t think some of us understand the ramifications of that particular attack by the Boko Haram. Many innocent civilians have been killed by the Boko Haram, in any civilized society that is completely unacceptable. But the Boko Haram has also killed many government security personnel including men of the Nigerian Police Force and men of the Nigerian Army amongst others, in any civilized country that is unheard of.

But what then would you say about the attack on the headquarters of the Nigerian police in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja? In any civilized society that is unthinkable. The fact that the safe den of all safe dens of the people that are supposed to keep us safe is not safe, which is saying something. For the Boko Haram to carry out such an attack as this shows the regard in which they hold the government, and rightly so. They  see the government as weak and scared and powerless. And to even buttress this further after the attack on the police headquarters by the Boko Haram after everybody including the president had condemned the attack and promised to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators. The Boko Haram responded only a few days later by carrying out its deadliest attack yet in which no fewer than 25 persons were killed and while our “government” was still condemning, investigating and promising to apprehend the perpetrators the Boko Haram carried out yet another attack barely 24 hours later on a Joint Task Force check point in which several people were killed.

Now, there is talk amongst our “government” and “security agencies” about negotiating with these murderous terrorists and even extending an amnesty to them. Can you imagine such a thing? Imagine the government of the United States negotiating with Osama Bin Laden and the Al Qaeda? That is laughable. But that is exactly what is being bandied here in Nigeria. Incredible that someone would even think such a thing not to talk of even voicing or God forbid, carrying it out.

If the Boko Haram can make the Nigerian “government” so helpless, clueless, powerless, and scared, are they not the real government?
