The two women were among the 14 Ministers sworn-in by the President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday, but unlike their colleagues who were returned to their former Ministries, Mrs Maina and Mrs Oduah-Ogiemwonyi were directed to report today to the Secretary to the Government, Mr. Anyim Pius Anyim, to be assigned.

A statement by Mr. Anyim said Mr. Jonathan had approved their assignment of portfolios.

Mrs. Oduah-Ogiemwonyi takes over the Ministry of Aviation from another woman, Mrs. Fidelia Akuabata Njeze. During the tenure of Mrs. Njeze aviation in Nigeria continued to grow, but so did passenger complaints, with Nigerian airports noticeably more chaotic and poorly managed.  Mrs. Njeze’s last-known assignment was as chairman of the church component of Jonathan’s inauguration last May, for which she presided over a N60 million budget for such things as air conditioners.
