A group of Nigerians is organizing an unprecedented rally in London on July 22 to drum up support for the trial of former Delta State Governor, James Ibori. The event will take place at the Southwark Crown Court, the venue of Mr. Ibori’s forthcoming trial on money-laundering charges.
In a statement issued in London, the group criticized the presence in court, at Ibori’s first appearance, of about 50 people who were alleged to have been sponsored by the Delta State Government, which is headed by Ibori’s cousin, Emmanuel Uduaghan.

“If you are offended by any act that promotes or supports corruption, this is your opportunity to show solidarity with the long-suffering Deltans whose future has been mortgaged by the alleged criminal activities of Mr James Ibori and his gang of looters,” the statement said.

Please join us for the justice for Deltans rally scheduled for Friday July 22, 2011 at the premises of the Southwark Crown Court.
We believe it was wrong for 50 people, allegedly sponsored by the delta state government, to have protested James Ibori's trial for money laundering in the uk. We believe that the new Nigeria we are all trying to build does not provide for such pro-corruption activities.
If you are offended by any act that promotes or supports corruption, this is your opportunity to show solidarity with the long-suffering Deltans whose future have been mortgaged by the alleged criminal activities of Mr. James Ibori and his gang of looters.
