Akpabio who has failed to provide security for lives and property since he mounted the seat of leadership over four years ago reportedly attributed the insecurity in his domain to opposition during his thanksgiving service.

SaharaReporters gathered that policemen rescued the first civilian governor’s wife, Mrs Imoh Isemin from her kidnappers.

She  was abducted on Sunday morning along Awana street, Ikpa Road in Uyo on her way to the Redeemed Christian Church of God for worship.

The Commissioner of Police, Mr Felix Uyanna, said on Sunday that “the widowed wife of the late former governor was rescued in a house in Uruan local government area where she had already been “tied-up and blind-folded”.

Uyanna did not however disclose if any arrests were made in the operation nor did he provide further details.

A member of the church who was at the scene of the kidnapping told SaharaReporters that he assumed that the car stopped to pick him up.

He said that he was scared to see three young men surround the car and shooting sporadically into the air.

The witness who for obvious reasons wished to remain anonymous said, “they overpowered the driver who attempted to run away back into the car who tried to run away and drove away”.

The announcement of Isemin’s freedom by the Police brought respite to her family and church members who were earlier thrown into confusion when the news filtered around time.

A family source who spoke to Sahara Reporters described her release as a miracle.

“We thank God that in this case God heard our prayers, the level of insecurity in Akwa Ibom is something else and this is the first time the Police will rescue a kidnap victim, this is God at work.

The Police should not use this case to shine because they have not solved any kidnap incident before now” he said
