An unrepentant, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, also known as the Underwear Bomber, pleaded guilty today in a U.S District court.

Abdulmutallab, who is a Nigerian native and son of a wealthy banker, read a statement in court professing the attempted bombing attack on Christmas Day in 2009. In his written statement in front of Judge Nancy Edmunds he explains the reasons for his actions and confesses to being inspired by the teachings of Mujahid Osama Bin Laden.

"It's one of the duties of a Muslim," said Abdulmutallab.

He said In 2009, in fulfillment of his religious obligations, he conspired with at least one person to attack the U.S.

One of the  goals of Islam is to do Jihad against the enemy of Allah, he said.

He set out on jihad against America because "America supports Israel and they are killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and other wars."

During his statement he admitted knowing what he did was an offense against American law but said that, "to Allah it's not an offense".

"America should stop supporting all of these people or America will face more calamity, If not by people by Allah," Abdulmutallab said.

As he finished his final statement he yelled out "Allah Akbar"  (God is the Greatest) twice then he was taken away to undergo probationary interviews in company of his lawyer, Anthony Chambers.

His full sentencing is set for January 12th.
