Jonathan's Handpicked Candidate Wins Bayelsa's PDP Governorship Primary

President Jonathan’s handpicked  governorship candidate, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has won the controversial People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Bayelsa state.

President Jonathan’s handpicked  governorship candidate, Mr. Seriake Dickson, has won the controversial People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary in Bayelsa state.


According to the vote tallies made available to Saharareporters, Dickson easily defeated other contestants winning handily with the  following votes declaredaccording to local government areas: Brass 31, Ekedemo 47, Yenagoa 47, Southern Ijaw 61, Ogbia 44, Sagbama 51, Kolango 41, Kolokuma/Opokum 43, Nembe 41.
 
Three of Governor Timipre  Sylva’s loyalists staged a walk-out in disagreement with the conduct of the primaries before vote counting began on Saturday.
 
Mr. Dickson is the preferred candidate of President Jonathan. The primaries proceeded despite an injunction by Justice Kolawale of the Federal High Court in Abuja barring the conduct of that primary.
 
The PDP National Publicity Secretary Professor Rufai Ahmed Alkali stated that no court could stop the party primary going by Section 87 (10) of the Electoral Act 2010, as amended.
 
Earlier in the process the PDP barred the sitting governor of Baylsea sate, Mr. Timipre Sylva,  from contesting in the primaries.
