In order to register their demands, the drivers barricaded all the roads leading into Wuse, thereby preventing both human and vehicular movement. They described the mobile court at Wuse Junction was uncalled for and unacceptable, and that the presence of security agencies at the local Wuse market made it difficult for them to carry out their legitimate business.

When the anti-riot police arrived at the scene, they began by firing sporadically into the air to disperse the rampaging drivers, but one of the officers shot a protester in the process.

This infuriated other protesters who put him their injured colleague into a wheel barrow and pushed him around chanting anti-government slogans.   Also recently, traders and hawkers in the city staged a protest over the high handedness of Abuja Environmental Protection Board Task Force.
