Jonathan Removes Sports Minister From Office

The Nigerian minister of sports, Alhaji Yusuf Suleiman, has been relieved of his appoint by President Goodluck Jonathan. The decision takes immediate effect according to a press statement issued by Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the president on media and publicity.

Although the statement from the president's office stated the decision was taken to enable the minister "focus fully on the pursuit of his declared political ambition."

Saharareporters had revealed during the confirmation of ministers when Jonathan assumed power that the minister was not in the good books of Mr. Jonathan haven clashed with the managing director of Nigerian Maritime Administration (NIMASA). 

Suleiman was then quickly redeployed from the ministry of Transport to Sports.
