A seven-man panel of the Supreme Court agreed unanimously that Jonathan won the election therefore tossing the petition of retired General Muhammadu Buhari of the Congress of Progressive Change (CPC) challenging Mr. Jonathan's election before the court.

Justice Olufunlola Oyelola Adekeye read the lead judgement while five other justices and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (who was absent from today's line-up) concurred with the ruling.
