Boko Haram Men Aren’t Rich, Jonathan Goofed By Sunday Njokede

President Jonathan does not know that poverty can lead to criminality such as the one Boko Haram is committing. He more so thinks Boko Haram actors are rich no wonder they have the money to carry on their activities. His opinion is very wrong. And, hence I am here as a volunteer teacher to lecture Mr President on how Boko Haram gets the wherewithal to conduct their desperadoes despite not being well-moneyed.

By and by, I hope Jonathan would concentrate and lend me his ears. As I try hard to make my case that poverty and criminality are on the same page. And furthermore, that Boko Haram mustn’t be rich to come upon money to thrive their religious fixation.

The president had, in a recent interview with a Swedish journalist opined that poverty does not lead to crime. He also claimed that the activity of Boko Haram is not caused by poverty. The interview was on the Leadership Newspaper of yesterday. The journalist’s name is Jonathan Power.

In advancing his thesis that poverty does not cause crime. Mr Jonathan had asked the Swedish journalist hypothetically helplessly thus “How does Boko Haram survive, how do they eat, buy the fertilizer they need for explosives? The rifle is expensive. I don’t think it’s poverty per se,”

Mr President! Here is the answer. Boko Haram as an outlaw organisation operates as Mafia cliques. They don’t have to be rich to have the resources to do their daredevil activities. What they do is this. Each time they need money they broke the bank. That is not the end. They engage in all kinds of activities to bankroll their operations.

In addition Mr President! Suchlike Boko Haram engage in drug dealership, gunrunning, smuggling, gambling and etc in other to raise money to up their struggles. All outlaw gangs whether Boko Haram, Fidel Castrol-Che Guevara guerrilla groups, Nelson Mandela Apartheid fighters and Mafia do everything to have finance to promote their causes. People in this niche of fearless enterprise as Boko Haram do not need to be rich to be able to carry on their operations. They do everything for money. They have the gut which conventional people do not have.

Furthermore, these organisations get monetary donations from their members and admires. Just as pastors Adeboye, Oritsejafor and Oyedepo get donations from their faithful groupies. It is worth to mention here also. Donation is a very small means whereof Boko Haram gets their resources. True. The bulk of their income comes from criminal undertakings. The same is applicable to political agent provocateurs, guerrilla fighters, Mafia and co.

Mr Jonathan and his security operatives must be kidding themselves thinking Boko Haram people are rich hence they have the capital to do their desperados. No, it is not like that.

If Jonathan administration has been working on this false analogy to combat Boko Haram – the result they’ll get would be counterproductive in the end.

President Jonathan spoke further here on: “I am not one who associates crime with poverty. Some of the leaders of Boko Haram are medical doctors.”

Okay. Some of Boko Haram’s operatives are doctors and well-placed people. And so what? Che Guevara was a doctor, Nelson Mandela is a lawyer. But that didn’t stop them from doing brazen activities to push their agitations forward. They bombed government installations, killed people by the dozens, robbed banks. In fact it is always by all means necessary when outlaw groups as Boko Haram want to progress their causes. They don’t have to be rich as president Jonathan Goodluck is making his private believe about wrongfully.

If Mr Jonathan doesn’t know that poverty causes crime in the nutshell. What else could he practically understand by the way?

The president’s lack of understanding of ordinary primary matter of civil society and governance should be rigging alarm bell across the board. Those who don’t know the danger Jonathan pose for Nigeria are sleeping on duty.

For any country to become a success story depends on the leader’s intellect, his solid worldview and simple understanding of everyday issue. A regime which doesn’t understand that poverty leads to crime would of course. Increase petrol on New Year’s Day. And hike electricity price on April fool’s Day. After all, poverty is nothing but just another English word: too much of which, Jonathan can’t comprehend.

Jonathan is the only leader in the whole world who doesn’t know that poverty and neediness have serious influence on criminality. And it is such a pity. That more so, he’s the only president worldwide who can’t pinpoint from whence daredevil niche organisations as Boko Haram get money to do their fixated causes, good or bad.

It behove presidential handlers to teach him simple basic terminologies, applications and implication. Finally, .poverty and unemployment are making it easier for Boko Haram to recruit new intakes. Jonathan should understand this simple issue. It is no witchcraft or rocket science.
