In a phone conference with reporters late evening, Boko Haram's spokesperson "Abu Qaqa" said the sect was not involved in kidnapping or demanding ransom.

“We have never been involved in hostage-taking and it is not part of our style, and we never ask for ransom” he stated before threatening that the sect would eliminate any journalist misrepresenting its mission and moods.

Two Europeans, Chris MacManus, a British citizen, and Franco Lamolinara, an Italian national were reportedly killed by their captors as the security team led by the British special forces attacked their hideout early yesterday.

Meanwhile, the sect spokesperson claimed responsibility for the attacks on Ashaka township in Gombe, the killing of a senior Custom chhiefand today's attack on Rijiyar Zaki police station in Kano that led to the injury of three police officers.
