Mr. Segun Fodeke, the iwatchlive.org webmaster told Saharareporters that the initiative was part of the outcomes of the OccupyNigeria Movement. He said the site will provide Nigerians across the country the opportunity to monitor project implementation in terms of quality and quantity and report same in real time. This, according to him, will establish a coordinated advocacy method to control sleaze and other sharp practices by public office holders involved in contract execution.

According to Mr. Fodeke "Projects going on around you that will affect the way you live, plans that may change the way you do business, promises to promote growth and protect your future will have to be monitored and documented so as to ensure public office holders are held accountable".

"Never before has there been an unbiased, open, coordinated and well-planned system for you to air your expectations and observations about the promises, plans, and projects of the government. All we need is the collaboration of Nigerians to monitor government activities and report themselves on iwatchlive.org"

He explained how iwatch works below:

"We collect information about projects, plans, and promises to be made by the government nationwide and organize them using different segmentation criteria in order to bring government to citizens at every level".

"This information can tell you...

• Who (institutions / tiers) in the government is actually working around you
• What the government is doing for you
• When the government is doing something that will affect you
• Where the government is focusing its efforts at any point in time
• Why the government may be carrying out some projects. iWatch is also a place where you can find more detailed data and reports about the trends of developments in government. All we need is for citizens to monitor and report themselves for appropriate follow up"
