Saharareporters can confirm that the explosion came from a gasoline tanker that caught fire.

This happened while the president and his political party, the PDP, are holding their convention at the Eagle Square in Abuja.

Nigerians have been worried over the news of explosives since the Boko Haram sect intensified their bombing campaign across Northern Nigeria. Last week the sect pulled out of a peace negotiation with the Federal Government and vowed to continue bombing.

Nigerian security agencies have been able to keep Boko Haram attacks outside of Abuja since the bombing of the United Nation’s building in Abuja in August of 2011.
