Last night, the sect murdered a police officer in the area, bringing the number killed to about eight, in addition to two policemen who survived bullet injuries last month by sheer luck.  Last year, a suspected sect member, riding a motor bike, killed two policemen who were watching over the home of a senior police officer.  Our investigations reveal that that officer has now fled the area as well.

Many residents, including policemen and other security operatives, are also confirmed to be leaving the area for fear of their lives.  Our security source said that judging from the look of their selected attacks, it would appear that the sect gathers information about security personnel in the area and thereafter attacks them.

The residents also fear that at any moment, there could be an invasion of the area by a full military force in view of the strength the sect is gaining, as the area is said to be the most densely-populated ward in the North with over one million inhabitants.

The area, according to a survey, also has the highest number of foreigners mostly Nigeriens and Chadians in the North, the security official said.

WE have also learnt that some soldiers, who are said to be armed to the teeth, have been drafted to reinforce the existing military presence in the area, which also houses a Chinese company that is working on the Kaduna-Abuja fast train project.

A top military source in Abuja said that with the way and manner the sect is growing in the area, “full military action is likely to be effected there any time from now.”

Geographically, it is in the same area that a suspected Boko Haram bomber who tried to plant an IED close to a petrol tanker was killed recently.
