A public interest lawyer, Abdul Mahmud, said in a statement: "The action of the government is crude and a throw back to the dark years of military rule. All men and women of conscience must call on and expect the government to either charge Jaye Gaskia to court".

Mr. Gaskia was invited by the SSS last night according to his associates.

The UAD which Mr. Gaski chairs help organize a massive weeklong strike that paralyzed Nigeria in January as government withdrew fuel subsidy on new year's day.
