Two Years After Yar’Adua’s Death, Former Top Aides Kurfi, Ruma and Others Still Underground

Two years after the death of Nigeria’s first university graduate president, Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, his topmost and trusted political aides, Dr. Tanimu Yakubu Kurfi, who was his economic advisor, and Alhaji Abba Sayyadi Ruma, the former Minister of Agriculture, have virtually disappeared from Nigerian politics along with other members of their famous inner circle.

The two pundits of the Yar’Adua cabal have had several battles with other Nigerian politicians, but our sources say the two men are underground because their feuds with other power brokers have remained unsettled. Kurfi and Ruma are also said to have adopted life in the shadows as a way of warding off any serious campaigns aimed at making them pay for their past misdeeds.

A source close to the two men said, “They are certainly living with crises because they saw open hatred against them."

On many levels they are insisting that Nigerians didn’t know about all that transpired during the Yar’adua illness saga especially the health drama regarding Yar’Adua which almost brought Nigeria to its knees.  But I can tell you that what happened was a university of life to both Tanimu and Abba.”

Another source said the men have been shuttling between Nigeria and Dubai and other well-known money-laundering capitals around the world attending to their businesses, and have been represented in several political parleys by proxies and other ways.
