The shoot-out prompted police to ban the use of ‘Okadas” from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

A resident of Rigasa told SaharaReporters that the message had been conveyed to the commercial motorbike riders, through meetings with their leaders and other community leaders.

The resident added that the same restriction is being relayed on local radio stations in Kaduna town in both Hausa and English, “In view of the prevailing security situation, and the attacks on security personnel and civilians alike, the Kaduna state government, in collaboration with security agencies has imposed a ban on the movement of motorcycles from6pm-6am in Rigasa Kaduna state with effect from tomorrow 15th May, 2012.”

The police commissioner Mohammed Abubakar, when contacted confirmed the genuineness of the announcement being broadcast in Kaduna.

SaharaReporters also gathered that Gov.r Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa of Kaduna state has held an emergency security meeting with top security chiefs in the state, in which the decision was reached as a first strategy since the terrorists are mainly attacking security agents while riding on motorbikes.

The Rigasa residents, a traditional ruler said, have continued their self imposed curfew for fear of the unknown.
