JTF Warns Boko Haram Against Attacking Military Barracks in Maiduguri

In an unusual move, the Joint Task Force in Maiduguri today warned Boko Haram that any attack on military barracks in the metropolis, particularly the Headquarters of the 21 Armoured Brigade, would be counterproductive as it would massively jeopardize the security of their members in military custody.

In a statement signed by spokesman Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, JTF said its ‘Operation RESTORE ORDER’ has information about clandestine plans by the terrorists to that effect, and that it will “decisively destroy such attacks on any of its barracks within its Area of Operational Responsibility.”

It urged the Giwa barracks host community, particularly owners of houses bordering the barracks, to be watchful and to quickly alert the JTF of any suspicious movement in their area through the Operation’s 24-hour Hot Lines: 080-64174066, 070-85464012, and 081-54429346.

BOKO HARAM TERRORISTS PLANS TO ATTACK MILITARY BARRACKS IN MAIDUGURI

Information available to the Joint Task Force Operation RESTORE ORDER indicateclandestine plans by Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) to attack military barracks in Maiduguri metropolis particularly theHeadquarters 21 Armoured Brigade. The JTF wishes to warn terrorists that such exercise would be disastrous; counterproductive as it would massively jeopardize the security of their members in military custody and that it will decisively destroy such attacks on any of its barracks within its Area of Operational Responsibility.

The Task Force wishes to use this opportunity to alert and urge the Giwa barracks host community particularly owners of houses bordering the barracks to be watchful andquickly alert the JTF of any suspicious movement within their respective vicinity through the following JTF Hot Lines that are operational 24/7;
