The security agencies are still counting the numbers of the dead, including civilians who were caught in the cross fire.  Several police officers were reported to have been killed.  

The attackers released about 150 prisoners well in Bama Prison.  All the warders on duty were reported to have been killed when a rocket propelled grenade hit the place they were hiding under firewood storage in the prison.

The army had earlier claimed that soldiers guarding the facility repelled the invaders.  

The Joint Task Force said it has not concluded its damage assessment and but said casualty figures will be around 60 people dead.
