Press Statement By The Ohanaeze Ndiigbo Youth Wing At The End Of Its 1st Plenary Session Held At The  Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Secretariat Enugu On Saturday 26th April 2014.

At the end of the first expanded plenary meeting of the apex Igbo youth organisation Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing in Enugu. Decisions were made on burning issues as it concerns Ndigbo in general and the Igbo youth in particular. These include:

1.    The Inauguration of the newly elected National Executive Committee (NEC) of Ohanaeze  NdiIgbo Youth Wing has been fixed for Thursday 5th of June 2014 in Enugu, with  Hon. Chika Nzelu  appointed to chair the Inauguration Committee while Hon. Chinedu Ogah and Comrade Chukwudi Ibegbu were appointed as Deputy Chairman and Secretary respectively.

2.    We frown at the lukewarm approach of the Igbo delegates to the on-going National Conference; where their near ineptitude is portraying the Igbo nation as one that lacks cohesion and visionary leaders when issues that border on the restructuring of the Nigerian federation are tabled.

3.    We hereby call on the Igbo delegates to as a matter of urgency revisit the various Igbo pre-confab position documents and push for those positions as enunciated.

4.    Consequently, the Igbo delegates should not bother coming back to Ala-Igbo, if they squander this golden opportunity of correcting the structural imbalances inherent in the present Nigerian polity.
