Black Stars Captain Asamoah Gyan Loses His Friend At Ghana Holiday Resort

July 7, 2014

Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan on Sunday lost his bosom friend, Hiplife artist Castro, while on a jet skiing escapade in the resort town of Ada, Ghana. Gyan, who led the Black Stars on a disappointing campaign to the World Cup in Brazil, returned to Ghana and was cooling off before returning to his Al Ain club, in the United Arab Emirates. Castro, however, did not make it, and has been confirmed dead.

Reports say Castro returned from the UK and joined his friend Asamoah Gyan at the Aqua Safari Resort in Ada, for a 2-day holiday paid for by the Ghana striker.

After checking out of the Aqua Safari, the pals, together with an unnamed female companion, moved to the Peace Holiday Hotel, where disaster stuck. Another unnamed Black Stars player, as well as Gyan's elder brother and former Black Stars player Baffour Gyan, were also in the entourage.

Several versions of the story are making the rounds, but according to deep throat sources, Castro took one of the jet skiis out on a cruise on the Volta Lake, with the unidentified female friend, but hours later, the ski boat was found without both Castro and his female friend. A European expatriate told the distraught Gyan how he had seen the couple drown.

It is believed that Castro, who had a lifejacket on, was trying to rescue his friend who did not have one on, and had slipped into the river. Asamoah Gyan was reportedly rescued by other revelers at the resort.

Asamoah Gyan has featured on award-winning tracks 'African Girls,' 'Odo Pa', with his late rapper friend.
