Millions Pour In For Nigeria’s Ebola Campaign

Topping the donors is Aliko Dangote Foundation with N152 million for sponsoring the Ebola Emergency Operation Centre in Lagos.
The ANAP Foundation founded by Mr Atedo Petersidealso said his foundation would be supporting affected private hospitals to the tune of N100, 000 per bed space.

The Ebola crusade of the Lagos State Government has been boosted by donations of millions of naira from both the public and private sectors. On Thursday, the federal government announced the donation of N200 million to the Lagos state government to support its fight against the deadly Ebola virus.

The N200 million is separate from another N1.9 billion approved by President Goodluck Jonathan for efforts to prevent Ebola in the country.

Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who announced the donation, also said some corporate organisations were making contributions to support the federal government’s Ebola fight.

The ANAP Foundation founded by Mr Atedo Petersidealso said his foundation would be supporting affected private hospitals to the tune of N100, 000 per bed space.

“He also disclosed to the minister that the First Consultant Hospital in Lagos where the index case was managed would be the first beneficiary and that the hospital would receive N4 million since its bed capacity is 40”, said Dan Nwomeh, spokesman of the minister.

“The Tony Elumelu Foundation has pledged a donation of N50 million to support the federal government’s containment efforts. Shell Petroleum Limited donated an ambulance to the Ebola Emergency Operation Centre in Lagos”.
