MEND Dissociates Self From Threat To Lagos Judges

It said in a statement that the threat was issued by an imposter and self-acclaimed “Commander” of MEND, going by the name of ‘Commander Wilberforce’ who claimed to speak for MEND, and circulated in some sections of the media on Friday.

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has dissociated itself from a threat, issued in its name, of possible attacks on Lagos judges.

It said in a statement that the threat was issued by an imposter and self-acclaimed “Commander” of MEND, going by the name of ‘Commander Wilberforce’ who claimed to speak for MEND, and circulated in some sections of the media on Friday.

“As far as we know, this person (‘Commander Wilberforce) does not exist and there is no collaboration of any sort with this imaginary individual as claimed in the misleading statement,” MEND said, urging the media the media to disregard it.

It noted: “The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has not and will never threaten any Judicial Institution for carrying out their duties.
