Nigeria Police Appoint Force Gender Adviser

A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer CSP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said the appointee, CSP Olabisi Kolawole, would work to stem the tide of violence against women and girls in the country, and consolidate the gains made by the Force in that regard.

The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Suleiman Abba, has appointed a Force Gender Adviser to head the re-constituted Force Gender Unit.

A statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer CSP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said the appointee, CSP Olabisi Kolawole, would work to stem the tide of violence against women and girls in the country, and consolidate the gains made by the Force in that regard.

According to the statement, the Force Gender Unit will, among other things, 

• Ensure the implementation of a robust capacity building plan for officers in gender-related issues.

• Ensure the inclusion of gender training in Nigeria Police curriculum at all levels.

• See to the establishment of Gender Desk officers in Police Formations nationwide, and 

• Enhance the already existing collaboration with other stakeholders in the area of gender equality.
