COEASU Lays Siege On Lagos Government House

The protesters had accused the government of grossly underfunding the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education as evidenced by the poor infrastructural development. The protesters carryied placards and chanted solidarity songs while blocking the entrance to the governors’ office during an executive meeting session. The governor had to send the Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Fatai Olukoga, to appease the protesters to give them till Thursday October 16, 2014 to look into the matter.

Members of the Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, Non Academic Staff Union, and Joint Action Front today laid siege to the Lagos State Government House to demand the immediate remittance of the pension funds deducted from their salary, which had been unaccounted for by the management.

The COEASU Chairman, Avosetinyen Michael, had decried “the non-remittance of 17 months of pension funds deducted from their salaries, the non-remittance of co-operative deductions of over N150 million and the non-accessibility of retirement benefits by college retirees for the past three-years.”
