A major clash broke out at the All Progressives Congress (APC) extra-ordinary non-elective convention in Abuja today, resulting in severe injuries for two attendees and a responding police officer.
During the chaos, which was captured on video by the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), chairs, bottles, and other items became weapons, thrown by warring factions of the party.
The event had the goal of "amending the constitution of the party to accord with the provisions of the Electoral Act," Tony Momoh, an Edo State delegate told NTA. The party also acknowledged and celebrated the introduction of its newest addition, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal.
The two victims were taken to the hospital.
Policemen later restored order at the event.
