Abdul Majeed Waris, Mubarak Wakaso, and stand-in captain Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu sealed the fate of the Togolese in the northern city of Tamale whilst an early second half goal from Togo's Jonathan Ayitte saved face for the Hawks.

Abdul Majeed Waris opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a header after the Black Stars had controlled the early exchanges. In-form Mubarak Wakaso struck just four minutes later to increase the tally.

Jonathan Ayitte putting up a spirited resistance pulled one back for the visitors before acting captain Agyemang-Badu shot was deflected into the net to restore the two goal lead.

AFCON 2015 is expected to be one of the most keenly contested with countries like Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Cape Verde already qualified.

Reigning champions Nigeria however failed to qualify after being held by a much less fancied South Africa to a 2-2 draw.
