Police Avert Bomb Blast In Jos

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was on Thursday defused by member of the Police anti-bomb squad in Jos, Plateau state.

Daily Trust gathered that the IED was discovered near Tin City school of Electronics and Fatima Primary school under a culvert around Laranto market in Jos north local government area of the state.

The Special Task Force (STF) confirmed the incident.

STF spokesman Captain Ikedichi Iweha said the bomb was successfully defused and urged citizens of the state to remain vigilant.
Iweha said "terrorists from the north east are looking for areas to cause trouble especially during this festive season. We urge people to remain vigilant and not take things for granted."

He however dismissed rumours making round that another IED had been discovered around old airport junction in Jos south LGA but said security men will remain vigilante.
