January 19, 2015

The city of Kaduna, Northern Nigeria's political capital, stood still today as thousands of supporters besieged the place to await the arrival of General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in continuation of his presidential campaign.

The supporters came from different parts of the state in the morning to await the arrival of the popular candidate, slated for 2pm.

Hundreds of enthusiastic youth besieged all the roads leading to Kaduna Airport, where Buhari was received by top members of the party in the state, led by its governorship candidate, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai.

Murtala Square, the venue of the campaign event, was filled to the brim, with hundreds of bikers riding in and out displaying portraits of Buhari and El-Rufai.

Upon arrival, Buhari and his entourage had a rousing rally, promising to erase corruption from Nigeria, and to provide security and build infrastructure to lift people of Nigeria out of poverty.

Buhari rounded up his campaign in Minna, the capital of Niger State, where thousands of APC supporters and sympathizers also welcomed him.

He later visited the former military president, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, who endorsed his candidature.
