In an act of desperation the PDP aspirant for Ife/Ijesha senatorial district, Olanigba Fadaunsi unleashed terror by abducting the electoral officer for Ife East Local Government on his way to the Senatorial collation venue at Ilesa Grammar School. The event happened after the realization that Senator Babajide Omoworare is coasting home to victory, despite allegations of election manipulation by PDP leaders in the area.
The electoral officer was harassed and kidnapped by armed thugs loyal to Fadaunsi immediately as he arrived at the Ilesa collation venue. The intention of the PDP thugs was to steal the election results from Ife Central, which they succeeded in destroying.
As at the time of writing, Omoworare is being threatened by the armed PDP thugs at the collation centre, while the electoral officer has lodged the necessary complaints to the police. He was escorted back to Ife to get a duplicate copy of Form EC8C used to use that to declare the result of the election.
It remained to be seen how Fadahunsi will impose himself on the people as the senator without clear mandate of the people of the senatorial district.
