Barack Obama On Twitter, Finally

President of the United States, Barack Obama, announced via tweet that he was now on Twitter.

His previous Twitter activity was found at @BarackObama, but was managed by Organizing for Action since 2007, which is his campaign committee. The only official tweets from President Obama featured, “-bo”.

According to Politico, President Obama had more than 120,000 followers in the first half hour after his tweet. He follows the universities he attended, Columbia University and Harvard University, as well as Chicago sports teams.

He also follows his wife, Michelle Obama, whose Twitter handle debuted today @FLOTUS.
