The wife of President Buhari, Aisha Buhari, has made comments alleging officials within the Jonathan administration charged money to people in order to see the President and his wife.

These comments were made during an “Appreciation Dinner” she hosted in honor of the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) women and youth.

Mrs. Buhari made these allegations by saying that “I will like to inform you that in the past regime, whether it is true or false, only God knows, some people were going round and parading themselves as PAs. If you wanted to see the First Lady, you will pay $30,000, $50,000 and if you are seeing the President, you will pay all that you have gathered in your lifetime.

She went on to explain, saying, “It is not former President Goodluck Jonathan that is not good but the people around him. So, the people that are going to be around President Buhari have to be very careful.

In addition, she called for discipline within the Buhari administration and for those working within it to focus on service for the nation.

“They must know that they are coming to serve the masses, not General Buhari in person.  It is the people that are around him that will determine the political health of our state.

She ended by saying that she does not want to be referred to as the first lady, “I am the wife of the President and will be addressed as such going forward”
