Army Deserter, Others Arrested For Armed Robbery, Possession Of Military Uniforms

A team of police detectives in Bayelsa State yesterday arrested a 30-year old army deserter, Nanabo Perezito, and two other suspects for illegal possession of military uniforms and involvement in various armed robberies in the state.

Police officials in Bayelsa State also confirmed the arrest of two other members of another suspected armed robbery gang. The suspects were identified as ThankGod Victor, 22 years old, and Hanson Victor, 20.

The spokesman of the Bayelsa State Police Command, Butswat Asinim, disclosed that the suspects were arrested at Opolo town in Yenagoa local government area after detectives gathered on a series of armed robberies in the state and beyond.

Mr. Asinim said the suspects were arrested on June 6, 2015 in a special operation carried out by detectives attached to the Ekeki Division of the police. He said the police recovered seven pairs of military uniforms, one AK-49 rifle, 39 rounds of ammunition, one locally made pistol, and two drivers’ licenses.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to various armed robbery attacks in Bayelsa and Rivers States,” the police spokesman said.
