Lebanese Construction Workers Kidnapped In Bayelsa Regain Freedom

Two Lebanese construction workers abducted by unknown gunmen in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State were on Thursday set free by their abductors, whose whereabouts remain unknown.

Asinim Butswat, Bayelsa State police spokesman confirmed today that Ibrahim Abi Phrem and Sarkis Abi Chimooni, who were snatched on Wednesday, have regained their freedom. 

“They were rescued at Okodi, in Ogbia riverine community on 25 June 2015 where they were abandoned by the kidnappers due to massive manhunt by Police” he said, adding that both men were hale and hearty and had reunited with their families.

He further stated that efforts to arrest the kidnappers, who killed two policemen during the abduction, were being intensied.

The slain policemen were attached to Pache Construction Company, employers of the abducted men. 

The gunmen, according to residents who witnessed the incident, were eight in number.  They arrived the community at about 12.20pm in two speed boats.
