A cleric who was on transit from Damaturu told SaharaReporters that soldiers shot and killed two suicide bombers at Jakana village around 4.30 p.m. this evening as the bombers attempted to detonate the explosives attached to their bodies.
At least five people were confirmed dead and more than a dozen injured as three female suicide bombers detonated explosive devices near a hospital and military checkpoint in Molai, Borno, one of Nigeria’s northeastern states.
Our sources disclosed that the three female suicide bombers made two separate attempts to enter the General Hospital located at the outskirts of Molai town. Another suicide bomber blew herself up at a military checkpoint in Jakana, a small community. Five people, including the bomber, died in the attack.

The cleric disclosed that the first woman succeeded in detonating herself near the checkpoint, but she was the only casualty. The other bomber was shot dead before she could detonate any explosives.
Vehicular traffic was held up for about 30 minutes as soldiers cleared the area. “Everybody was panicking,” said the cleric.
Another source, Musa Sadiq, who is a tricycle commuter, told SaharaReporters that suicide bombers stormed a hospital with a television set and DVD player in their hand. He said the bombers tried to forcibly enter the premises of the hospital before they blew up themselves.
“We saw them as they were arguing with the gateman. One of them [had] the television set and the second came with a DVD player. They both wanted to enter Molai General Hospital, but the gateman prevented them. Then they blew themselves.
A security source said that three people died while 18 were critically injured, several of them bystanders. A hospital source revealed that the medical facility had received three corpses and 18 injured patients. He said the death toll might rise.
Jakana is about 22.3 miles away from Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
