Female Suicide Bomber Attacks Kano Mosque

SaharaReporters has learned that the bomb blast, which rocked Kano earlier today, was the work of a female suicide bomber. The terrorist blew herself up near the Umar Bin Khattab mosque in Kano State on Monday night, according to sources speaking with SaharaReporters.

The bomb was detonated shortly after the conclusion of the night prayer. Eyewitnesses told SaharaReporters that the terrorist was entering the mosque when the explosion occurred.

Early reports say that the only fatality was the suicide bomber, but that many were injured including some members guarding the mosque entrance.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, Assistant Superintendent of Police Musa Magaji Majia, confirmed the explosion saying and that only the only known death is the female suicide bomber.

PRO Maija said the incident happened at about 9:11pm once the night prayer has concluded.

Majia added that a team of security operatives has contained the area, which is now safe and calm.

He advised the residents to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security official.
