The inquest, presided over by Magistrate Oyetade Komolafe, indicted the building contractor, a Divisional Police Officer (DPO), and Mr. T.B. Joshua's church.

The coroner recommended that the contractor be prosecuted for doing an unprofessional job. The magistrate also ruled that the DPO in Ikotun area, Alaba Haruna, should be transferred out of the area for not allowing proper investigation into the case.

The magistrate said the Church, headed by Prophet T.B. Joshua, should be duly investigated for culpability in the faulty building construction and for failing to obtain proper the building permit from relevant authorities.

After the collapse of the guesthouse, which housed mainly foreign visitors to the miracle-peddling church, Mr. Joshua claimed that a hovering aircraft likely bombed the building.
