The Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) has trained at least 20 personnel on psychological support to alleviate persons displaced by violence related to Boko Haram in Borno State.

The Head of Organizational Development, Learning and Innovation at NRCS's Abuja office, Andronicus Adeyemo, said the aim of the three-day training is to help displaced persons with psychological issues and trauma.

The NRCS carefully selected some people from affected Local Government Areas such as Chibok, Damboa, Jere Konduga, Bama, Gwoza, and Maiduguri, as well others who understand the ongoing security situation.

Some of the dignitaries at the training were the northeast coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Alh. Mohammed Kannar; Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Bulama Muhammed; and Alh. Mohammed Kaujiand, the chairman of the NRCS's Borno State branch.

While thanking the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the northeast representative for the NEMA, Suraju Garba Abdullahi, said the training came at a crucial time, and that the NEMA will continue to assist displaced persons with reentering society.
