Fight Against Corruption: We Must not lose Concentration

Even among the optimists, the fact is becoming clearer that the fight against corruption is not going to be easy. This is especially true when the fight is being hampered even from unexpected quarters- the religious, traditional institutions and the elder statemen and women.

The recent revelation that the National Peace Committee may have specifically visited President Muhammadu Buhari to plead on behalf of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and others to softpedal in the current fight against corruption is to say the least disturbing. Though Rev. (Dr) Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, and a member of the Committee has since denied the allegation, the of reactions it generated, as well as the speed with which members of the committee came out to deny the insinuation was denied
