Maltreatment Of MTN Call Center Agents At Mayfair Gardens.

        It is highly imperative to bring to the notice of the entire world the kind of unholy act  and disdain manner at which CCRS at Mayfair garden are being treated. The way things are being shape up here makes the predicament of so many CCRs worsen to extent of asking are the gods not to be blamed. The kind of treatment melted on CCRs at Mayfair garden by CNSSL/ISON the independent contractors of MTN Nigeria call center is nothing but a practice evil.

        A brief look into the coming of ISON into the MTN call center. MTN Nigeria through their CEO sent out a mail to all centers ( Apapa, Aromire, Vgc, Mayfair, Ilorin and Kaduna) that the management of MTN from South African will terminate the contract with CNSSL due to reasons not mention to the centers and said ISON an indigenous India company will take up the sole running of all centers from 1st of Aug,2015 for a 5 years contract.

       

        However, all outstanding leave arrears and other entitlement will be paid before the take up of the new contractor. Little did CCRs at Mayfair garden knew that they are just a pencil in the hand of CNSSL. To the surprise of all, CNSSL that had been scraped went back to get the contract from ISON (become a 4th party to the contract) and gave a letter of re-engagement for 3 months to the CCRs at all center with a harsh terms and conditions. while others centers like Apapa, Aromire and VGC requested a change in the terms and conditions which was done for them but the fate of Mayfair CCRs center was refused a change in the term and conditions. This now leads to different controversies between CNSSL management and CCRs at Mayfair garden.

        However, many people decided to confront the ISON representatives at Mayfair center about the inhuman nature at which they are being treated but they decline to be involved in the whole process whereby pointing out that it was a conceive drive of CNSSL management.

 

        Looking at the various inhuman act which range from working for 9 hours which was later reduced to 8hours after two CCRs collapsed on shift and CCRs that stays on Lagos mainland got to their respective houses 1am following day if they worked. The CNSSL management also goes  further to asked all pregnant women who have not completed their maternity leave to resumed back to work or face been sacked. More so, many CCRs can’t talk or ask a question(s) or else they will be sacked.

       

        In the same vein, the one that cut CCRs mind is the issue of leave bonus not been paid after a mail was sent early in July by MTN customer service manager that all leave bonus (used or unused) will be monetized before the ISON transition period of 3 months. To the CCRs amazement,the CNSSL management sent a mail to all CCRs at Mayfair center that 2015 leave bonus was paid in January 2015. Whereby leave bonus of other centers were paid before the 3 months ISON transition period. To many of  the CCRs, they couldn’t get where leave bonus is being paid at the beginning of a year calendar when the staff of a company has not worked. This is contrary to the position of Nigeria Labour law. Bonus Leave is special Annual Leave provided to active staff, the Implementation of leave bonus should be input in a timely and accounted for on a daily basis. Each bonus leave allocation is a one-time allotment. Employees do not “lose it” at the end of the calendar year nor do they receive an additional allotment the next year.

 

        With all this hullabaloo, in the wake of 24th of August,2015, CCRS who are resuming for morning shift was astonished when they got to the office and saw a retinue of anti-robbery policemen fully armed with Ak 47 riffles as if they are looking for Abubarkar Shekau. They were recruited from a nearby Elomoro divisional police station to come and intimidate CCRs because they are scared of CCRs protest. To the CCRs, this act is threat to their fundamental  human rights under the constitution of Federal republic of Nigeria.

       

        However, it is high time we let the whole world know the kind of treatment melted on MTN CCRs at Mayfair garden by CNSSL whose CEO is Mr Gbenga Adebayo. We thought it is only India firms that maltreat Nigerians, we don’t know that Nigerians themselves can be this heartless(callous). We call on good Nigerians for help and end this act of maltreatment. The likes of NCC, NLC, Nigeria Civil society, media houses and Nigeria government. Many people have been sacked unjust fully while some have decided to resigned because they can’t face this inhuman act in their fathers land.
