The police command in Ondo State on Thursday suspended two of its unrepentant officers suspected to have brutally killed Ronke Adelugba in her residence at No. 1, Akinyemi Street off Ijoka road, Sijuwade close, Akure.

The two officers were identified as Inspector Fabunmi Oladipupo and Inspector Haruna Idris, from the Ala unit of the Oda Police Divisional Police Station.

Meanwhile, the widow's children Henry and Daniel spoke to SaharaReporters on Friday at outside their home on Akinyemi Street.

Speaking softly in a local language, they said the police through the Ondo State Specialists Hospital, Akure is asking them to pay the sum of N42, 000, a fee meant to carry out an autopsy report on their late mother.

They disclosed that the police had told them that an autopsy would be carried out in order to unravel the “true cause” of how their mother died.

“Now, they are asking us for such huge amount of money despite killing our mother. We can’t afford such fund,” they said.

Narrating further from their earlier revelation, the youngsters revealed that their mother was dehumanized, dragged by the hair, and slapped several times before she was elbowed with a gun butt intermittently in the chest.

The two young boys specifically identified Inspector Fabunmi Oladipupo as the ringleader of the police squad.

The outgoing Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, Isaacs Eke, disclosed the officers’ suspension while briefing pressmen at the command headquarters’ office in Akure.

Mr. Eke said both Inspector Fabunmi and Inspector Idris were part of the ten unrepentant killer cops suspected to have killed the late 50 year-old widow.

However, the Police Commissioner said the remaining eight officers earlier indicted in the case were not directly involved and have been exonerated of the crime.

He revealed that the command is already investigating the incident that led to the death of the old woman.

He also disclosed that the command have also sent for an autopsy report as part of the police investigative process to unravel its main cause.

Mr. Eke, who has now been transferred to Abuja, promised that the case, which had already been taken up by civil society organizations, would not be thrown under the carpet not even by his successor.
