Elections Were Not Held In Some Delta Constituencies, According To Witnesses

The witnesses and petitioners are claiming that the Isoko South II constituency did not hold elections on April 11th.

Witnesses testifying at the State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Delta State told judges that the April 11th, 2015 gubernatorial and State Assembly election were not held in some constituencies.

Mr. Ferguson Onwo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly candidate has petitioned Nigeria’s election monitoring body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), demanding that it cancel the election results. INEC had declared Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Mr. Johnson Erijo the victor in the Isoko South 11 constituency.

The witnesses and petitioners are claiming that the Isoko South II constituency did not hold elections on April 11th.

One witness, Mr. Okoghene Gift Idolor, an adhoc staff of INEC during the election, displayed documents which showed that in several polling stations in Aviara Ward 03 registered voters where not ticketed, in addition to other electoral malpractices in Isoko South constituency 11.

Another witness, Mr. Emmanuel Ikebe, who served as a collation officer in Uzere ward, also stated that there was no election in Isoko South constituency 11. He insisted that both the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections were never held in Uzere ward.

The Tribunal Judge, Justice L.M Boufini adjourned the case until September, 11th and 12th for the respondents and their witnesses to testify.
