Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole on Wednesday terminated the appointment of four Commissioners in the State Executive Council for lack of performance.
According to a statement released by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Public Affairs Kassim Afegbua, who said the move is in line with government's commitment to strengthen the system towards optimal performance.
The sacked commissioners are Chief Lucky James, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; Mrs. Maigida Blessing, Commissioner for Women Affairs; Mr. Patrick Aguinede, Commissioner for Basic Education and Mr. Chris Ebare, Commissioner for Energy and Water Resources.
The statement further stated that the termination of their appointments was with immediate effect. The affected commissioners were however directed to hand over all the government properties in their care to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministries.
In the meantime, the Edo State government is expected to announce their successors in a matter days.
