Soldiers Kill Three Militants In Delta State

The gun battle, which occurred during a raid on a militia camp, resulted in a thirty-minute firefight killing three people, according to the JMTF spokesman Mr. Ayas Abdulrahman Ingo.

The Joint Military Task Force (JMTF), code name Operation Pulo Shield, said it killed three suspected militants in the Benignoye community of Burutu Local Government Area (LGA) of Delta State.

The gun battle, which occurred during a raid on a militia camp, resulted in a thirty-minute firefight killing three people, according to the JMTF spokesman Mr. Ayas Abdulrahman Ingo.

The spokesman added that it is believed that the militia leader was injured in the gun battle.

The commander of the JMTF, Major General Alani Okunola, said the soldiers also arrested some suspected militants in the Niger Delta.

Mr. Okunola, who assumed duty as the operation’s commander last Wednesday, said the suspects were apprehended during a raid on their camp in the area.

He added that JMTF troops searched the camp and discovered sophisticated weapons including medium-sized machine guns, AK-47 machine guns, and ammunition.

Mr. Okunola said, "the troops also recovered one single barreled gun, 7.62mm NATO special ammunition, 11 improvised explosive devices, and identity cards belonging to Oroso Kpasco, Iyadoufega Nuwent, Clifford Ebikabowei and Emmanuel Stanley."

"Also recovered was an Automated Teller Machine card belonging to Mr. Ingo Kpasco, a suspected hoodlum at Odimodi community."

After the raid JMTF troops apprehended Mr. Ebiwame Lamia, who had escaped from the September 5 raid.

Mr. Okunola told SaharaReporters that, "Mr. Lamia also confirmed that three militants died during the gun duel while their ring leader, Mr. Ayas Abdulrahman Ingo escaped with gunshot wounds."
