Bukola Saraki, now Senate President, is the former Executive Director of Societe Generale Bank in Nigeria where he orchestrated a banking fraud scheme to enrich himself and his family, according to police investigations.

In a press statement, the EFCC said that Izuagbe, 45, who is being investigated in a case of conspiracy and money laundering to the tune of over N3.6 billion, has gone into hiding and all efforts to reach him have proved futile.

“He is linked to the several shady deals and gross financial misconduct that took place in the bank, in which several millions of Naira were granted as loan without due diligence,” the commission said.

It noted that the suspect, who is believed to have fled the country, is a native of Iviukhua village, near Agenebode, in the Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The commission urged members of the public with information on the whereabouts of Izuagbe to contact any of its offices in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu, Gombe and Kano, or the nearest police station.

This is the most recent in a series of legal incidents involving close Saraki associates and family. Most recently Toyin Saraki, Bukola Saraki’s wife, underwent intense questioning by the EFCC. Sources at the time told SaharaReporters that Toyin Saraki was unprepared and that they generated a great deal of information from her interrogations.

Yesterday it was announced that Bukola Saraki would face charges for failure to declare assets to the Code of Conduct Bureau, which carries criminal consequence.
