Corruption Trial Of Nigeria’s Senate President Saraki To Begin Third Week Of October

The Code of Conduct Tribunal hearing false assets declaration charges against the President of the Nigerian Senate, Bukola Saraki, will resume on October 21st to commence a three-day rigorous trial that could lead to the removal of the Senate President from office.[slideshow]42176[/slideshow]

Mr. Saraki 13 count charges were read to the Senate President in front of a packed courtroom in the Nigerian capital Abuja earlier today. After the prosecutor read the charges, Mr. Saraki  entered a not guilty plea to all the charges.
 

He was then granted bail and allowed to leave the accused person’s box. 
 

The tribunal chairperson, Danladi Umar, told Mr. Saraki to return on October 21st, 2015 for a three-day trial that will end on October 23rd.
