The family has said that they are in constant contact with the kidnappers, and desperately pleading that the random amount be reduced.

‎On Monday, masked men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen kidnapped Mr. Falae in his farm in Ilado, a surburb of Akure, the Ondo State capital.

The family also wanted to dismiss rumors that Mr. Falae was released by his captors.

Dapo Falae, the son of Mr. Falae, spoke to SaharaReporters on Wednesday in Akure. He told our correspondent that the abductors are insisting that the ransom be paid before the release of his father.

He said the kidnappers sound "unmerciful and adamant" anytime they call to ask about progress meeting their demands.

"They are now threating us that we must pay the money if we love the life of our father,” he told SaharaReporters on the phone.

Dapo Falae disclosed that the abductors accuse the family of not being serious with the life of Mr. Falae since the money has not been paid.

He added, "they called us today and asked how far have we gone in raising the money. One of them was shouting in the background of the call that they will not release Baba until ‎we pay the money.”

"We are still negotiating to make sure Baba is safely released and unhurt. Since the incident, everyone in the family has been taxing each other. At least, let us raise something while the security agencies do their job," he added.

He disclosed that ‎some faithful friends of Mr. Falae have been reaching the family with strategies on how the old man could be rescued, stressing that the family would not wait for the state government do save him.

Many of them were seen pacifying the victim's aged wife, Mama Racheal Falae, while others hoped for the quick released of Mr. Falae.

Police spokesman for the State, Wole Ogodo, said police officers are still combing the forest to locate the "hidden position" of the kidnappers. It was also gathered that men of the State Security Service have joined rescue team.
