PDP In Bayelsa State Slam APC For Conduct During Gubernatorial Primaries

September 23, 2015

Mr. Godspower wondered why a Party primary, which is a purely internal matter, was not conducted peacefully. Instead, he argues, the APC primary was characterized by widespread protests, violence, and the destruction of property.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bayelsa State described the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries yesterday as a "show of shame." The APC held its primary elections for governor at the Samson Siasia sports complex in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State, which produced former Governor Timipre Sylva as the APC candidate.

‎State Secretary for the PDP, Keku Godspower, said the situation during the APC primary, as it played out on Tuesday, shows that the APC is desperate for leadership.

Mr. Godspower wondered why a Party primary, which is a purely internal matter, was not conducted peacefully. Instead, he argues, the APC primary was characterized by widespread protests, violence, and the destruction of property.

Mr. Godspower told a SaharaReporters correspondent that it proved the “fears we have been expressing all the while, that these people [the APC] do not mean well for Bayelsans and their mission is to reintroduce cultism, truncate the existing peace and security in the State.”
