SaharaReporters learned from a source close to the situation that a phone call was placed on Friday notifying them that unknown gunmen on the border between Ondo and Kogi State abducted Mr. Obafemi.

"The clergyman was seized and dragged into a parked vehicle along the road", the source said.

The abduction of Mr. Obafemi came exactly 24 hours ‎after the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, was freed following a ransom paid by his family.

Olu Falae, was kidnapped on Monday from his Ilado Farm in Akure North Local Government Area (LGA) of the State by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Also, worshipers in the Church told our correspondent that the 70-year-old clergyman ‎was initially declared missing but later learned he was abducted on his way back home.

A junior Pastor in the Apostolic Faith Church told SaharaReporters that the hoodlums suspected to be the kidnappers contacted the family and are demanding the sum of six million naira.

"The abductors have established contact with the family and even spoke to one of our members. They are demanding from us to pay six million before he could be set free", the junior pastor said.

Police Spokesman in the State, Oluwole Ogodo, confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters but said details were still sketchy as at the time of call.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ikare Police Station, Musliyu Sogbade, said the division has already put machinery and materials in place to rescue the clergyman from his abductors.

It is unclear from conversations SaharaReporters had with police sources whether these kidnappers are the same who abducted Olu Falae earlier this week.
